Bios

Gregory van der Vink, Ph.D. is the founder of Novametrics LLC and has over 20 years project leadership experience, including the $200M EarthScope facility. He teaches environmentally-sustainable economic development and environmental science at Princeton University. Dr. van der Vink received his Ph.D. in Geophysics from Princeton University. He has been a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow, a Congressional Science Fellow, and an International Affairs Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Philip Bogden, Ph.D. is a principal at Novametrics LLC and has been advancing science and technology in the public interest for over 20 years. His public and private-sector experience includes 9 years as CEO of a nonprofit that provided real-time environmental data products as a public service. He helped develop and implement open data policy for the National Science Foundation, and served on the faculty of Geology and Geophysics at Yale University. He received his Ph.D. from University of California and a Bachelors from Harvard.

Eliza Harkins is a data analyst and an early member of the Novametrics LLC team. She received her Bachelors of Science and Engineering from Princeton University, with minor degrees in Finance and Sustainable Energy. Her senior thesis work centered on predicting terrorist movements in Africa based on statistical analyses of multidisciplinary data. She has worked for USAID as an environmental consultant and Impala Research Center as an analyst.

Brian Reed is a data analytics consultant for Novametrics. He is a senior in the Operations Research and Financial Engineering department at Princeton University, and he is pursuing certificates in Sustainable Energy, Environmental Policy, and Values and Public Life. In past projects at both Princeton and the German Center for Economic Research, he has focused on optimization projects related to energy markets. He is a National Merit Scholar, a National Advanced Placement Scholar, a Connecticut Governor's Scholar, and a DAAD RISE scholar.
